We believe that teachers and all other professionals involved in education play a prime role as mediators between the Centre and the community. Therefore, we want you to consider the Centre an extension of the classroom and we offer:

If you are unsure about how to use the exhibitions in the classroom or how to approach the visit to the Centre as a curricular activity with specific aims, contact us and we will give you personalized advice.

Our goals are the same as yours:

  • to improve the capacity of interpretation and reflection,
  • to introduce questions about perception and develop the skills associated with them,
  • to enhance oral and artistic expression,
  • to encourage contemplation,
  • to promote imagination,
  • to promote the understanding of the image as a representation of reality,
  • to address art as a privileged witness of history and culture,
  • to teach students to understand and use artistic techniques,
  • to teach them new technologies from a cultural perspective,
  • to encourage the values ​​of respect, solidarity and teamwork.

Visual Arts Centre Course, an interdisciplinary educational tool

The Visual Arts Centre, an interdisciplinary educational tool, is a project resulting from the collaboration between the Helga de Alvear Foundation and the CPR in Caceres, which is intended as a training activity to provide teachers, regardless of the educational level or subject they teach, with the necessary means to use the contemporary art museum and, in particular, the Helga de Alvear Foundation Visual Arts Centre, as an additional tool in the educational process. The museum, contemporary art and educational institutions will be the core issues of this course, which, in addition to focusing on important aspects from the artistic point of view such as the education of the eye, also aims to become a platform for reflection and initiatives regarding potential models of collaboration with both teachers and students, in order to establish the basis for the future relationship between the Centre and the educational community. Such models go beyond the occasional interaction of an isolated visit and take the form of ongoing projects, promoting lasting, well-structured relationships and partnerships in which the Centre becomes an extension of the classroom.

The course has a duration of 18 contact hours and 2.0 training credits, provided that 85% attendance is exceeded (Official Gazette of Extremadura 04/11/2000).
