Centro de Artes Visuales Fundación Helga de Alvear

Art is one of the subject areas included on the syllabus at all levels of education. The action we are promoting aims to complement formal education with other educational strategies and formats involving direct contact with the works of art, which, in this case, increases the possibilities of dialogue and interactivity offered by contemporary art.

The activities will cover a wide range of conceptual variants to suit the educational needs of each group, with the possibility of adapting the content to the specific curricular interests of each teacher, regardless of the subject they teach. The student can view the artworks from the perspective that is most appropriate to the goals of the teacher.

Organized guided tours

We offer guided tours tailored to different educational levels. If you want a tour to suit other specific curriculum objectives, please ask.

Workshops

Aimed at: Preschool, Primary, O level, A level, Vocational Training, groups with special needs or at risk of social exclusion

Learning by playing, experimenting, creating, building and communicating is probably the most effective, pleasant and natural way to gain knowledge. This is what the Centre offers to organized groups from junior schools and high schools through this programme. The workshops are preceded by a discussion of one or more works that introduce aspects that the children and young people later expand on in the workshops. The workshop can be combined with a tour of the exhibition.

Ongoing Cultural Education Programme

Cultural education is not just a matter of an occasional visit to the Centre but requires continuity for art to become another feature of the everyday life of children and young people. Therefore, we have created this new educational channel. It consists of planning three visits a year with complementary activities during each of the years covered by a full cycle (preschool, primary, O levels, A levels). In addition to the specific curricular goals established by each teacher, these cover aspects related to art and the museum as an institution in an attempt to attract and retain students’ interest in the world of art and culture. For this purpose, from among those interested, five groups belonging to schools from the Region of Extremadura -preferably in the first year of one of the aforementioned cycles- will be selected.

If you are interested in some of these Programmes, call us at 927 626 414 or send us an email to a general@fundacionhelgadealvear.es.

…also, you can always come to the Centre without arranging a guided tour or other activity. The museum is your educational tool and you decide when, how and how often to use it. There are no restrictions!
