Parallel Activities

web3

The project of creating a Visual Arts Centre whose activities revolve around training and the discussion of the issues that preoccupy the creators and society of our times, would not be possible if, on the basis of the temporary exhibition focusing on contemporary art, we did not build the necessary bridges towards reflection and debate, towards the creation of platforms for dialogue and intervention and towards the dissemination of information from other theoretical and creative fields related to visual arts. The organization of conferences, seminars, courses and debates, film and video cycles, and theoretical and practical with artists and audiovisual laboratories, are some of the remedies taken by the Centre to contextualize and interpret the art of our time.

Except for some courses and workshops, these activities parallel to the exhibition will be free of charge, the only limitation being the capacity of the room. Places will be allocated by order of registration.

Today we celebrate

Art as a bridge. We want the commemorations of special days to be an opportunity to celebrate, reflect or fight for a cause. Therefore, we also offer equally special activities: visits and workshops, meetings, panel discussions and theatrical performances related to these international celebrations

Guided tours and workshops

Guided tours and workshops specifically designed for groups with hearing, visual and mental disabilities to make the artistic content of the Centre accessible from an intellectual, reflective, participatory and creative perspective. All activities are designed according to the “design for all” principle and taught by specialists in each area.

You can choose one of the two activities, tour or workshop, or combine the two. For any of these activities we recommend a preliminary conversation or meeting prior to find out the characteristics of the group in order to customize the activity.

And remember! The “Programme For All” activities are accessible to people with hearing difficulties using the individual magnetic induction loops the Centre offers visitors. Request them at reception.

They are all free and must be reserved at least ten days in advance. Call us at 927 626414 or write to accesibilidad@fundacionhelgadealvear.es to request information or register.

Volunteering: You suggest how to see the exhibition

In order to make our Centre not only accessible but also inclusive and participatory, as well as tours and specific workshops we have launched an Accessible Volunteer Programme. The idea is for you members of the community with functional diversity not only to be receivers but authors and implementers of activities; to become creators and devise new ways of seeing the exhibition and demonstrate them in these guided tours led by you, which we have called “You suggest how to see the exhibition”, both to groups with a diversity (yours or a different one) and to the general public. You will teach us how to see things through your eyes.

If you want to participate in this programme or have other ideas or projects that fit in with the spirit of the Accessible Volunteer Programme, contact us by phone at 927 626 414 or via email at accesibilidad@fundacionhelgadealvear.es. You can also contact us by sending the Application Form for Volunteer Work.
